Course Description

This course is offered two  times a year.  It is offered for spring and fall semesters.
 
 
This course explores the mission of Catholic schools, sacred scriptures, spiritual and liturgical life, ethics and morality, the Church and a post-modern world, the pedagogical practice for religious education, and the faith journey related to teaching and learning across the divisions. 
 

Course Outline

Topics include:
  • adapting teaching practice to reflect the mission of Catholic schools and Catholic school board policies, guidelines, and programs
  • integrating into practice the understanding that the Bible as Sacred Scriptures is God’s revelation to humanity, the story of God’s relationship with the Jewish people and the early Christian communities, and encouraging critical reflection on personal and social realities
  • engaging in dialogue regarding the relationship between biblical texts, core beliefs of the Catholic faith and the faith journey
  • critically examine the significance of the beliefs and practices of the Catholic faith through the history of the Church
  • integrating official Church documents within professional practice

  • Canadian citizens
  • permanent residents, or

Students must enroll in courses prior to the semester deadline date.  OSAP would directly reimburse you for the tuition fee.  If you have questions regarding Micro-credential funding, please contact Student Awards and Financial Aid at OSAPMC@uwindsor.ca.

Prerequisites

• Certificate of Qualification must be in good standing.
• Completion of Religious Education in Catholic Schools, Part 1 OR ABQ Religious Education, Intermediate.
• One year of teaching experience - equivalent to 194 days of teaching experience as confirmed on the Confirmation of Teaching Experience form signed by a Supervisory Officer. The form must be submitted to our office by the semester deadline date and for course approval.
