Course Description
Please be advised that this is a Schedule D AQ course that concentrates on teaching students at the intermediate and senior level. You will not receive qualifications at the Intermediate and Senior Level. If you want qualifications specifically for intermediate and senior levels, you will need to take ABQ courses. Music-Vocal AQ courses emphasize the theoretical understanding necessary to design, implement, and assess programs for students, on a participating in a variety of music classroom activities and on becoming involved in the processes of creating, presenting and responding to vocal music.
Course Outline
- understanding and implementing Ministry of Education curriculum expectations and Ministry of Education and school board policies and guidelines for music at the intermediate and senior levels
- having the theoretical understanding and foundation necessary to design, implement, and assess programs for students
- creating learning environments conducive to the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, linguistic, cultural, spiritual, moral, artistic and musical development of students
- understanding how to use, accommodate and modify expectations, strategies and assessment practices based on the developmental or special needs of students
- accessing a variety of resources within and beyond the education system to enhance and support student learning
- demonstrating the ability to integrate information and communication technology into teaching practice
- understanding and participating in a variety of music classroom activities designed for the intermediate and senior levels
- becoming involved in processes of creating, presenting and responding in vocal music

Textbooks and Required Materials
There are no textbooks for this course. Readings videos, and other materials will be provided on the course Brightspace site.
Required materials include a webcam/video camera and microphone.
OSAP Funding for AQ Courses
This AQ course is on the list of eligible courses for OSAP funding. Students must enroll in courses prior to the semester deadline date. If you are eligible, OSAP will reimburse funds after the semester drop date and will do so directly to you.

Prerequisites
- Certificate of Qualification must be in good standing.
- Qualifications in one of the following:
- Primary division
- Junior Division
- Intermediate Division
- Senior Division
NOTE: Candidates who hold Technological Education qualifications but do not have any basic qualifications in Primary, Junior, Intermediate or Senior divisions are only eligible to register in Part 1 as specified by the Ontario College of Teachers.

Recommendations
It is recommended that students have significant experience in music. Some examples include: level 6 or equivalent in singing or an instrument; or conducting or music teaching experience.Enrollment will open soon.
