The AQ is offered twice a year and during the spring and summer semesters

OCT Schedule E Course

This course provides candidates with a strong foundation and understanding of the vision and philosophy related to Health and Physical Education. It also focuses on the ability of teachers to ensure positive learning experiences for all students with safe and motivating programs that will result in students choosing to lead healthy active lives. Candidates will have opportunities to participate in practical and theoretical experiences. 

Course Outline

Topics in this course include:

· Ministry of Education K-12 curriculum guidelines
· OSBIE Safety Standards and practices
· Characteristics of the adolescent learner
· Teaching and learning styles; differentiating instruction for
practical use in the classroom and gym
· Formative and summative assessments in the classroom and gym
· Individual sports (track and field)
· Team sports (volleyball, soccer, basketball)
· Physical Education and students with special needs
· Daily Physical Activity
· Teaching games for understanding
· Health and the media

OSAP is open to Ontario residents of any age who are:

  • Canadian citizens
  • permanent residents, or
  • protected persons

Students must enroll in courses prior to the semester deadline date.  OSAP would directly reimburse you for the tuition fee.  If you have questions regarding Micro-credential funding, please contact Student Awards and Financial Aid at OSAPMC@uwindsor.ca.

Prerequisites

  • Certificate of Qualification must be in good standing.
  • Qualifications in Primary, Junior, Intermediate or Senior Division.
  • an acceptable four-year post-secondary degree with at least 120 credits, including:
    • for one subject, a minimum of 54 post-secondary credits in the subject
    • for two subjects, a minimum of 36 post-secondary credits in each subject and 84 in total
    • at least second class or equivalent standing in each subject (B average - 70%)
  • Evidence of at least two years of successful teaching experience, of which at least one year (194 days) in the Honour Specialist area, as certified by the appropriate supervisory officer on our Confirmation of Teaching Experience Form

Note:  A post-secondary credit that meets the requirements for an honour specialist qualification only counts toward one such qualification.  A post-secondary credit in Anthropology, Psychology or Sociology counts towards a post-secondary credit in Social Sciences.

For admission students must provide a copy of undergraduate degree transcript to aq@uwindsor.ca.  If you took your undergraduate degree with the University of Windsor, you do not need to submit a transcript.
