Course Description

The purpose of this course is to integrate previous and new healthcare theoretical knowledge and skills at the Registered Nurse, baccalaureate level, practice for the CNO competency: Nurse as Clinician. Concept-based learning and concept analysis is incorporated to support an understanding and application of professional nursing practice concepts identified by the College of Nurses of Ontario, and the skills to participate as a member of an interprofessional healthcare team in Canada. The course provides the opportunity to develop clinical judgement and to enhance clinical decision-making for adult patients and their families by analyzing exemplars and case studies in class and/or in a simulated clinical scenario via a lab. The assignments, exams and simulations provide an opportunity to develop learning and study strategies to help prepare students for the NCLEX-RN exam.
