This 2-week program will take place in the school’s wonderful Armory facilities, provide a day long array of varied musical and artistic activities that include: group class instruction, choir, master classes, performance opportunities, improvisation/composition, and visual art instruction from the University of Windsor’s School of Creative Arts faculty.  Participants will connect with current University of Windsor arts students assisting faculty in this program. This lab is a hub for musicians of all skills levels.

University of Windsor Lab School

The Summer Music Program is part of the University of Windsor Lab School.

Lab School: Strings (LSS) students participate in group lessons throughout the year (October to June) and engage with leading pedagogues associated with the University of Windsor. The classes are 60 minutes in length and are structured to develop technical/musical skills, ensemble and ear training, concert etiquette, and participation in master class performance experiences, all of which encourage social interactions with their peers. As part of the LSS curriculum, students have the opportunity to perform in one recital (in June) in the University of Windsor School of Creative Arts Recital Hall.

In the early stages of music study, students establish the technical/musical foundation on which all future artistry develops. In addition, students become engaged in their learning, set personal goals, acquire an increased sense of self-efficacy, and develop lasting friendships with peers who share similar interests. In essence, a priority of the University of Windsor Lab School: Strings is to nurture the overall well-being of every student.
