UWindsor Prep Biology is a non-credit online course that reviews grade 12 concepts and to ensure students are prepared for Biology at the University of Windsor. Through a series of online lectures, virtual labs, assignments and case studies you will learn about biochemistry, metabolic processes, molecular genetics, homeostasis and population dynamics.
Take this refresher if you are registered in the following UWindsor academic courses:
- BIOL-1101 Cell Biology or
- BIOL-1111 Biological Diversity
UWindsor Prep Biology is ideal for students who are starting in the Faculty of Science and majoring in Biology, Forensics, Economics, Environmental Science and Chemistry. Any other student who would like to enhance their knowledge of Biology or who is required to take BIOL 1101 and BIOL 1111 as a part of their degree program would also benefit from taking this refresher.

Course OutlineParticipants can expect to complete a combination of assignments, virtual labs, case studies and quizzes throughout the 10 days of learning. Daily online participation is required. Upon completion students will be awarded a grade of complete or incomplete.
This class is offered online through Brightspace. A link will be provided through email and you will have access the first day of class.

Instructional time will be held on Microsoft Teams. As a student of this course, the University of Windsor will provide you with access to Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams is available in three versions including desktop, web and mobile app. The Microsoft Teams desktop app is available for both Windows 7 and 10 and macOS 10.10 or later. On Windows, Teams requires .NET framework 4.5 or later; the Teams installer will offer to install it for you if you don't have it. If you are unable to install Desktop App, you can use web version of Teams. In addition, Microsoft Teams mobile app is available for iOS and Android devices. You can download it from your respective app store on the device. Full instructions will be provided before the course start.
Successful completion of SBI4U (Grade 12U Biology) is recommended.
