Course Description

This course provides a historical overview of international education and the role of the International Baccalaureate (IB) in determining principles, standards and practices for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). Moreover, it introduces the role of standards and practices in formulating instruction in IB settings; and explores the nature of teaching and learning within the IB PYP and MYP.
 

Course Outline

The domains of this course include:
1. Learning theories and strategies.
2. Teaching methodologies and the support of learning.
3. Selection evaluation, application/creation of teaching and learning materials.

OSAP Funding for IB Courses

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) now includes funding for hundreds of micro-credential programs. The micro-credentials plan ensures loans and grants will be available to more learners to rapidly upskill and reskill for in-demand jobs. Please be advised that IB courses are on the list of eligible courses for OSAP funding. Prerequisites

This course provides an overview of international education and the role of the International Baccalaureate (IB) in determining principles, standards and practices for the K-12 continuum.  This course introduces the nature of inquiry, the role of standards and assessment in formulating instruction in IB settings.
