Course Description

This course provides a historical overview of international education and the role of the International Baccalaureate (IB) in determining principles, standards and practices for the Diploma Programme (DP). Moreover, it introduces the role of standards and practices in formulating instruction in IB settings; and explores the nature of teaching and learning within the IB DP

OSAP Funding for IB Courses

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) now includes funding for hundreds of micro-credential programs. The micro-credentials plan ensures loans and grants will be available to more learners to rapidly upskill and reskill for in-demand jobs. Prerequisites

  1. Have an initial qualification that is the first degree of a university or other institution, or possess a qualification and/or experience that is deemed equivalent.  This usually refers to a Bachelor's degree. And; 
  2. Have a recognized teaching qualification or be in the process of completing an education degree.  The IBO does acknowledge that some experienced IB teachers may not hold a current teaching qualification.  In such cases, a minimum of three years full time professional teaching experience in a government-approved/registered school is required. 
 
NOTE:  Evidence of education or teaching experience in the relevant subject area will be required.  This evidence will vary depending on your level of teaching experience or teacher training, and might include:
  • teaching subjects stated on a recognized teaching qualification (for practicing Ontario teachers, providing an OCT # will be sufficient), OR
  • three or more years teaching experience in the subject area, supported by letter(s) from your employer(s), OR
  • unofficial transcript or copy of degree specifying a major or a minor qualification in the selected specialization (for those entering or enrolled in a teacher training program).

This is a specific partnership offering.  To enroll in this section you must be affiliated with ITARI or INDUS international Training Research Institute.

The deadline to enroll and pay tuition fees for the Fall 2025 semester is September 23.  All admission documents must be received by this date.

If you would like to be pre-screened before enrolling, the deadline to submit this request is September 1, 2025.

You will need to login to your existing account at https://register.continue.uwindsor.ca/.

  • Select available applications and then select the ITARI-IB Application and complete all sections.
  • Ensure that you have selected the stream you wish to enroll for as well as upload all copies of your supporting admission documents.
  • All supporting admission documentation must be translated to English if needed. The translation must be done by a service.
  • Save the application and submit.
  • If you are having difficulty with the application contact ib@uwindsor.ca for assistance. The admissions team will review your application.  It can take a couple weeks or more to process.  Your patience is appreciated.
